Evidence Management: If You’re Not Getting Better, You’re Getting Worse
April 17, 2019
Are you happy with a participation trophy?
In my first year as head coach of my son’s youth football team, I was determined to make positive change. The team had talented players, but had earned only one victory the previous season and had struggled immensely with attitude, effort, and execution. There was definitely plenty of room for improvement and need for change, but with so many issues, it was hard to determine where to start. I came in with new team goals, schemes, and practice drills. This was a great start, but change does not happen overnight and it’s rarely easy. Every practice we worked hard to inch closer to our goals. By season’s end, we were drastically better in all areas. In fact, we went from worst to first in our division! Does this mean we figured it all out and could sit back, relax as pee wee championships piled up year after year? Absolutely not! Our players know that we need to work on improving each and every day. One of our favorite mottos is “if you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse”.
If You’re Not Getting Better, You’re Getting Worse
This same ideal fits most if not all areas of life, including evidence management for police and law enforcement. Continuous improvement in evidence management is making sure that your evidence management resources and processes are as efficient, accurate, and effective as possible. It’s no surprise that this is done by using the most efficient methods and best technology to eliminate inefficiencies. Most successful changes will also make your evidence management job easier to perform. You’ll be saving time and money, but you’ll also be getting far better value out of your current evidence management efforts and operations.
At Tracker Products, we are constantly improving our evidence management software SAFE (Shared Archive For Evidence). Tracker has taken full advantage of today’s technology to create the most advanced evidence management software on the market. Along with state of the art barcode tracking, digital and physical data storage, non-amendable chain of custody, and digital signature collection, SAFE has an intuitive interface to make all of these functions easy to perform. You can also customize the software for even better results in your quest towards improvement. Yes, we are widely recognized as the best evidence management software, but we know that we must continuously improve to stay on top.
We Have the Right System. Now What?
When I installed a new offensive system for my youth football team, I didn’t simply hand out a playbook and walk away. To be successful, I had to work with the players and teach them not only what to do, but why they were doing it. Similarly, having the right evidence management software in place is a great first step in improving evidence management, but it’s only the beginning. Tracker Products offers exceptional implementation, training, and support for SAFE. In addition, Tracker has partnered with Evidence Management Institute to offer the new standard in evidence management training, certification, and consulting. EMI standards and practices are much different than alternative training available and will aid your continuous improvement in evidence management. In the end, your success is our success, so let’s improve together!
