The industry standard for tracking... anything.
Company History
But initially, business was primarily police departments and evidence tracking software. Then a new chapter presented itself. Tracker Products was born in 2004, somewhat by accident.
That year, the police department in the Cincinnati suburb of Independence, Ky., hired us to buy and implement evidence tracking software for its data collections, reports, chain of custody for evidence, things like that. Police wanted to more efficiently track every piece of evidence, from the initial log-in to the conclusion of the case. Which officer did what? When? And why? We thought it would be fairly simple.
But in searching the market, we were a bit surprised. Choices were limited. Prices were high and other evidence tracking systems were antiquated. We knew we could do it much better.
"It started almost by accident," Tracker Products owner Ben Townsend recalled. "When we looked at the market, we thought, what's out there isn't very good and it's very expensive. Other companies were established and their products hadn't evolved."
The first thing we did was design our system to be browser-based, making it easily accessible. Clients can run it through the Internet, but it’s not required.
That was one of the failings of the market in ’04. Our success with the Independence, Ky., police grew more business. Departments from Massachusetts to California, large and small, are using Tracker Products’ evidence, e discovery and asset tracking software systems.
But the name EvidenceTracker.com was now insufficient to reflect our range of clientele. A wide range of businesses and institutions saw the value of our police evidence, e discovery, and asset tracking software. Hospitals tracking records. Museums tracking inventory. And, with much pride, we secured contracts in 2007 with the U.S. Army and Navy.
Tracker Products, such as our asset tracking, police, evidence and e discovery software has grown quickly because there are so many uses for individualized tracking systems. For instance, we donated software so that the new Creation Museum in northern Kentucky can keep track of its large collection of items. The museum’s theme is a Biblical account of the Earth’s history. Items had been donated from all over the world.
In 2007, our asset tracking and e discovery software was implemented by the U.S. Army and Navy in their operations overseas. We can’t be more specific in terms of exactly what our tracking software is used for, but we’re proud to serve our country as well as we serve all our other clients.
